Carma Trophina brooch from the Microvita collection was one of my works nominated for the Eligius Award 2019, this piece was then exhibited in MAK Vienna (A), Traklhaus Salzburg (A) and Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim (D). Eligius Award 2019 is an exhibition with the finalists of the 5th edition of the prestigious Eligius Jewellery Award. It is granted with 7000€ prize money for Austrian jewellery artists. This prize is named after St. Eligius, saint of the goldsmith guild. This award is intended to highlight the historically important position of the goldsmiths in Salzburg its past through the appreciation of contemporary artists and their art to emphasize it and keep it awake. The prize is awarded for an artistic, innovative work every three years and is Austria’s only award for this art form. Among 13 finalists, also my work has been nominated for this exhibition. A selection of works will be exhibited in MAK (Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art) in Vienna. I’ve made this brooch from broken porcelain cup with a flower motif, set in brass fitting and connected to white lacquered piece of driftwood. On one side of the Carma Trophina brooch is attached a purple glass cabochon set in 925 silver (old earring). Recycled materials are an important part of my works. Construction and emotion. Deconstruction and structure. In and between. Forms twist their way out from the inside. They lift off the skin of the jewelry piece, exposing the structure, they create a second skin around the new volume. The structure breaks down, the surface fills up with forms that are then put under tension by being twisted to each other and to the piece. Between inside and out, original and addition, structure and facade.
