Viktoria Münzker is an experienced creator of jewelry as artistic medium that celebrates freedom of expression and emotions. She believes that jewelry materializes in thoughts and symbolizes attitude. The development of individual contemporary jewelry is a symbiosis of material and idea, which shows what a great, unexhausted potential this branch of contemporary art has.
Viktoria was born in Bratislava, Slovakia and lives now in Lower Austria. She studied Jewellery in 2001-2007 at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava/Slovakia. Awarded with a Master’s degree specialized in jewellery and metal, she moved to Vienna/Austria and became an active member of Stoss Im Himmel Contemporary Jewellery Studio for next five years.
The perfection of nature’s forms and the beauty of the material challenge Viktoria Münzker, who exhibits internationally and participates in prestigious art fairs. Her jewelry creations and sculptures are a testament to her skill and creativity. In addition to her jewelry studies, she has acquired the art of gemstone cutting and faceting.
Since her first exhibition in 2004, Viktoria Münzker attends regularly 5 to 12 international exhibitions each year. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the first prize in Jewellery Art contests “Azur” in Vilnius/Lithuania in 2012, Gioielli In Fermento/Italy 2013, Arts and Crafts Design Award/Online 2016, and ArtMagazine prize at Art Jewellery Night Budapest/Hungary 2019.
Divergent material properties meet another in unusual combinations: soft and amorphous runs into hard and edged, translucent stones into matt light absorbing bodies. The gracile and grotesque-looking deep-sea organisms could also be figments.
Animalic, botanic and mineral seem to flow fluently into each other, nature and fantasy become one. My jewelry objects are materialized imaginations. It’s not how things really are. How they could be – that is the point of aesthetical capability. They are not real shells, skeletons of corals. They are three-dimensional pictures of them. I create forms which report about themselves, and are autonomous against the conventions of imitation. And they appear strange for the first blink, until we realize a reflection of our own psyche in it. The creations origin in deeper layers of human consciousness. Feelings, wishes, fears and instincts drift on the bottom of the soul. I love to dive. Into the depth of the oceans, into the colors of nature, into the subconscious.
You can find my jewellery portfolio also on the jewellery platform KLIMT02, at Precious Collective, Association for Contemporary Jewellery, Galerie V&V, Arte Y Joya, Athens Jewellery Week, Not Just A Label, and Galeria Cin Cin Bratislava.
